Why People Fail to Achieve a Healthy Lifestyle

Today, people are more conscious of fitness and health. Media and online sties today are full on info on the healthy lifestyle, the right kinds of food to eat, and whatever you need to know on achieving this kind of lifestyle. Despite the numerous articles and information that we have, there are still may people who are unhealthy and have failed to achieve their health and fitness goals. We have received plenty of warnings of eating high-calorie diets and engaging in harmful behaviors, yet we still eat these foods and engage in these behaviors. It seems that people who have set their heart at doing the right things have found themselves unable to attain their goals. This indicates that achievivng a healthy lifestyle is a difficult thing to do which is also evidenced by the increasing stress-related sicknesses that people experience today. Why are so many people failing to achieve a healthy lifestyle?

The difficulty in adopting healthy behaviors lie in the psychological influence of gratification. We don’t want to wait for a long time to see results but we want to ratify ourselves immediately after we have done something good. Even if you are promised a better thing in the future, people will choose an instant reward over it. The problem with people is that they want everything now and they can’t wait for something that will still happen in the future even it is a far better reward than what you can have now.

If you apply this to living a healthy lifestyle, you cannot really see its effects immediately, but you need to wait for a while for you to see the results in your body. You know that dieting and exercise is good for you if you are overweight, but then you will not attain the results immediately and when you think of the hunger that you will feel, or the tiredness of your body , and denying yourself of treats, then you immediately give up on your goals and be as you are. You don’t do your dieting and exercising even though you know it is good for you since you will not see any benefit immediately. The failure of many people in achieving the healthy lifestyle is because of this.

Applying instant gratification to your health problem can be a solution to this problem. It is not really impossible to gain health benefits while laying aside instant gratification. There is no single solution to overcoming the problem of gratification perception. There are many tricks that can help you overcome this. It is possible to add a bit of instant gratification to your health plan. If, then, you are able to achieve a health goal, do something to motivate yourself. These rewards can help you slowly achieve your goals.

Rewarding yourself with food is a no-no. These things can get you past the need for instant gratification.
